I still remember the moment I received an email inviting me to attend the Awards Ceremony in Canary Wharf...

I was officially one of the top ten UK first-year students of the year! It was a truly spectacular feeling. I could not believe it at first!

A few weeks later, I was already socialising with other finalists, all of whom were genuinely inspiring individuals, networking with wonderfully personable Barclays employees and admiring the beauty of East Wintergarden. What a magnificent venue! It intrinsically reflected what all of us were feeling.
“We made it! We are here now, a select few ready to conquer the world. Nothing can stop us from reaching our goals!”

With a delicious three-course meal, Konnie Huq as our amazing host and a glowing sense of pride and accomplishment perceptible in the room, it was undoubtedly a day to remember!

This unforgettable experience gave us enormous confidence boosts and prepared us well for what was lying ahead. It opened our minds to opportunities and ideas we would have never contemplated before. Personally, I never really seriously considered a career in banking prior to entering this competition but now I definitely see its appeal. I also met some fantastic people, many of whom I can now proudly call my good friends.

I am tremendously grateful to TARGETjobs and Barclays for acknowledging my accomplishments and aspirations by awarding me this marvellous accolade. I never would have imagined a better conclusion to my first year of university studies. Now I know that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

To quote Dan Brown, “Everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer.”

Well, it did not take me long to conquer the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards.

So… what’s next?
