I was very lucky to be involved in, and win, the Future Leader in Business Undergraduate of the Year Award, which was sponsored by Mars.

The process stretched me and really helped me to realise my potential in my future career. Mars ran all of the assessments for this award and my aspiration to work for them grew at each stage.

After this, I completed an internship at Mars in a sales position on the Morrisons account. I had two line managers who were incredible at supporting me and helping me learn about the organisation. The attention that I received from my colleagues was like nothing I had experienced before and I could tell that my opinion was really valued. Mars creates an atmosphere that really pushes you out of your comfort zone, but provides the support network you need to develop at a really fast pace.

As part of my award for Undergraduate of the Year I was also given the opportunity to travel to Russia and visit two Mars sites. This was a six-day trip that really helped me understand the scale of the business and how we, as the UK segment, fit into the company as whole. It was also a great cultural experience. All of the opportunities that I have been given at Mars have really been more than I would have ever expected as a graduate. I am very happy to say that Mars have offered me a place on their management development programme in 2018.

As a place to work, I feel that everyone really puts the effort into the people who work for the organisation and this makes you feel involved in something more than just another company.
